Dear Junior District Auditionees & Parents: Auditions are Saturday, January 28 at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School. We have audition times beginning at 1:00 and probably extending for about an hour or hour and a half. We need you to meet at Wayland MIDDLE SCHOOL at 11:45 (the bus leaves at 12:00 sharp - we will not wait for stragglers). We expect to be back in Wayland between 2:30 and 3:00. The school will probably not be open for phone calls, so please arrange for a ride at that time. (Students will call from the bus if we will be earlier or later than 3:00.) Students should dress nicely, but casually and comfortably!! It's hard enough doing an audition without having to deal with a collar that is too tight! But, we do represent Wayland, so don't be a slob (no tee-shirts or sweat pants or blue jeans). Bring a small amount of money for munchies after your audition. In order to take part in the audition, each student must: > Return the permission slip below. Xerox copies of the music are not allowed in the auditions, so be sure you have the real thing (if you have a bad page turn, you may copy one page)! Brass players, take some oil with you. Reed players, have two or three reeds all broken in (an audition is a lousy time to have to break in a new reed!!!). Percussionists, you may want to take your own drum and some of the auxiliary equipment (but you don't need to); be sure to have a full range of sticks in your stick bag (yes, do take your stick bag so you look like you know what you are doing!), and don't forget to practice the Auxiliary Percussion Part as well as the solo - mallet percussionist and timpani also need to do the auxiliary percussion piece. Vocalists - no basketball games where you scream yourself hoarse Friday night! String players - bring rosin, extra strings & a rock stop for cello/bass. Scale Requirements. REMEMBER... there is sight-reading on the audition, so practice reading through new pieces. Pay attention to rhythms (don’t guess!) and try to get all the details, too! The auditions are "Blind" this year, which means the judge is behind a screen and can't see you. The procedure is:
Please return the following permission slip ASAP to you
your teacher or to Ms Muffitt. Ms Muffitt, Mr. Murray, Mrs. Tandon, Mrs. Memoli, Mrs. Carroll, Mr. Oneschuk You cannot get on the bus without a permission slip, so get it in ASAP!
