This year's Townwide Band Fest is
Monday, April 7, 2008, at 7:30 PM
in the Wayland HIGH SCHOOL Field House
We will not be having a combined rehearsal
before the concert this year, so you should arrive between 6:45 and 7:00
PM, ready to play at 7:15.
Signs will be posted to help you find where to go.
Middle school percussionists should arrive at 6:30 to help
with percussion setup.
We liked the effect of last year's procedure of each band
playing only one piece (1st year band will play a few of
their short pieces from the lesson book). Each band will again be
in its own corner of the gym floor so that the group is
easier to see and so that all students can see the
performing group. After all six groups have played, we will
adjust the chairs in the large combined band (including 1st
years!) do a quick rehearsal, then perform our combined
piece.
Reminders:
- All students must bring a folding music stand - be
sure your name is on all pieces of the stand! Black
stands will not be available except for percussion.
- Wear your band's usual concert dress (MS black and
white - shirt tucked in!)
- Report to the designated area in the field house
between 6:45 & 7:00 (leave coats & cases in these
areas), percussion at 6:30.
- Set up crew should report to the gym at 5:30
- Everyone please plan on staying a few minutes
afterwards for cleanup (high school and middle school
percussionists stay until all equipment is packed up. Do
not leave until you are dismissed-thanks!)
- We are requesting a chair fund donation of $5.00 per
family. We need to rent over 500 chairs to make this
evening happen!!
